Custom Window Treatments: Chattanooga Window Treatments

Layered Custom Window Treatments for a Chattanooga Home

Some homes begin with a beautiful view. The most memorable ones know exactly how to frame it.

For Sunset Sanctuary, interior designer Holly Vandagriff created a home rich with color, texture, artwork and a deep connection to the landscape beyond the windows. Chattanooga Window Treatments was brought in as the window-treatment specialist, collaborating on custom solutions that would complement Holly’s vision while bringing softness, warmth and function to the finished spaces.

Across four distinct areas, the treatments take a different approach—from patterned drapery and motorized light control to quietly elegant panels framing the landscape. Yet together, they tell one cohesive story.

It is a beautiful example of what can happen when an interior designer’s vision is supported by specialized window-treatment expertise, skilled craftsmanship and thoughtful installation.

The Vision: Complement the Interior, Honor the View

With a setting this striking, the window treatments needed to do more than simply dress the windows.

They needed to become part of the home’s layered design without competing with its surroundings.

That balance is central to our approach. Custom window treatments can introduce softness where architecture feels strong, texture where a room needs depth, and pattern or color where another thoughtful layer will bring the design together. In other spaces, their role is quieter: framing a beautiful view and allowing the landscape to remain the focal point.

The Sunset Sanctuary project called for both.

The Collaboration: From Design Vision to Custom Execution

Beautiful interiors are collaborative by nature.

An interior designer may establish the larger creative vision, but bringing that vision to life requires trusted specialists, craftspeople and installers who understand how their particular piece of the project contributes to the whole.

That is where Chattanooga Window Treatments came in.

Working with Holly, we helped translate her vision for the windows into carefully considered materials and treatments. The selection process included time spent together choosing fabrics, trims and wood finishes—details that allowed each treatment to feel connected to the room around it rather than added as an afterthought.

From there, the treatments moved through custom fabrication and professional installation.

It is exactly the kind of partnership we value with Chattanooga-area interior designers: their vision, supported by our specialized knowledge of custom window treatments and the many details required to execute them beautifully.

CWT’s broader full-service process encompasses material selection, professional measurement, custom fabrication, installation and final quality checks. Nancy’s nearly 30 years in the design industry, including more than 20 years owning a drapery workroom, also brings an unusual depth of fabrication knowledge to that process.

A Color-Drenched Office Softened with Pattern

In a room already confident in its use of color, the window treatment needed enough presence to belong.

Custom drapery panels introduced pattern, texture and softness, creating another layer within the color-drenched office rather than competing with it. The result feels warmer, more dimensional and more inviting—a working space with personality and polish.

This is one of the quiet strengths of custom drapery. Fabric isn’t simply something added at the window. Its scale, color, pattern and construction become part of the room’s larger composition.

Here, the drapery helps transform a bold room into a beautifully layered one. The original project material similarly describes the finished office as warmer and more inviting after the panels were installed.

A Motorized Solution for Intense Afternoon Sun

Not every window-treatment decision begins with aesthetics.

In another area of the office, intense afternoon sun created a functional need for better light management. The solution was a motorized shade that quietly performs behind the scenes while still contributing warmth and texture to the room.

At the touch of a button, the shade can be adjusted as the light changes throughout the day—an effortless solution that feels entirely at home in a thoughtfully designed interior.

It is also a perfect example of one of our guiding principles:

Great window treatments should work as beautifully as they look.

Motorization doesn’t have to announce itself. When thoughtfully incorporated, the technology simply makes a beautiful room easier and more comfortable to live in.

Framing the View in the Primary Sitting Area

Sometimes restraint is the most important design decision.

In the primary sitting area, the landscape was already the star. Rather than competing for attention, the custom drapery panels create a soft architectural frame around the view.

The fabric adds warmth, texture and a sense of completion while allowing the landscape to remain center stage—a simple, timeless approach that feels especially appropriate in a home so connected to its surroundings.

The effect is subtle, but significant.

Without the drapery, there is a window.

With it, there is a beautifully framed view.

The Dining Room: The Power of the Final Layer

The dining room may be the clearest expression of what we mean by layered design.

Woven wood shades were installed first, bringing organic texture and warmth to the windows. Later, stationary drapery panels were added as the finishing layer.

The combination adds dimension and softness while creating a visual connection to the commissioned artwork in the room. Instead of each element standing alone, the artwork, woven texture and fabric begin to speak to one another.

That is what thoughtful layering can accomplish.

The most successful rooms rarely depend upon one dramatic element. Their beauty comes from the relationship between materials, colors, textures, art and architectural details—each layer adding something without overwhelming what came before.

It’s an approach that reflects our larger design philosophy: layered rooms have both visual and emotional depth. They feel collected rather than decorated.

Thoughtful Details Make the Difference

What makes custom window treatments feel truly custom is often found in details most people don’t consciously notice.

The relationship between fabric and wall color. The scale of a pattern. A trim that quietly repeats a color elsewhere in the room. The warmth of a wood finish. The way drapery falls. The relationship between a treatment and the artwork beside it.

Individually, these decisions can seem small.

Together, they determine whether a room simply looks furnished—or feels thoughtfully finished.

As we often tell our clients, custom window treatments are about far more than fabric. Proportion, craftsmanship and intention all contribute to the finished result.

Sunset Sanctuary demonstrates that beautifully.

A Partnership Built for Interior Designers

Interior designers shouldn’t have to become window-treatment specialists to achieve exceptional results for their clients.

Just as a designer brings in trusted specialists for other highly detailed elements of a project, Chattanooga Window Treatments can serve as the dedicated resource for the windows. Nancy has described that distinction directly: window treatments are CWT’s primary specialty rather than simply one service among many.

We understand that when we collaborate with another designer, their vision leads the project.

Our role is to help make that vision possible—to advise on appropriate treatment options, materials and construction; navigate the technical details; coordinate fabrication; and oversee professional installation so the finished treatments feel completely at home within the designer’s larger concept.

For Sunset Sanctuary, that meant four very different window-treatment moments with one shared goal: enhancing the rooms Holly envisioned without losing sight of the architecture, artwork and landscape that made each one special.

The finished home feels warm, collected and effortlessly sophisticated.

And perhaps that is the best measure of successful collaboration: no single element asks for all the attention.

Everything simply belongs.
