One of the things I love most about this work is what happens when a talented interior designer and a window treatment specialist find each other and decide to do the work together, really together, from the first fabric pull to the final installation.
That’s exactly what this project was.
Holly Vandagriff of EastView Design Studio has been designing refined, intentional interiors in Chattanooga for years. When she brought me into Sunset Sanctuary, she didn’t hand me a spec sheet and step back. She came into the studio. We pulled fabrics together, talked through every room, considered how the light moved, what the views deserved, and how each treatment needed to function alongside everything else she was putting into the space.
That conversation (the one that happens before a single order is placed) is where good window treatments begin.
The Office: Drapery That Does More Than Cover a Window
The home office was the first room we tackled, and it set the tone for everything that followed. Holly wanted softness and pattern without competing with the color-drenched walls she’d designed around. We selected drapery panels that brought texture and warmth without overwhelming the space.

The same room also got a motorized shade to manage the intense afternoon sun — beautifully tailored and effortless to operate. Because in a room you actually work in, the treatments need to work too.
The Primary Sitting Area: Framing What’s Already Beautiful
Some rooms have a view that does most of the work. The job of the window treatment in those spaces is to support it, not compete with it.
For the primary sitting area, we chose custom drapery panels that added softness and warmth while letting the landscape remain the focal point.

That’s the goal every time.
The Dining Room: The Final Layer That Ties It All Together
The dining room came together in two visits. Woven wood shades went in first. Then, on a return visit, we added stationary drapery panels — and that was the moment the room fully arrived.

It’s why I always encourage designers not to rush the layering process. The second visit is often where the room becomes what it was always meant to be.

It was the process — the studio visit, the conversations about light and function and layering, the installation days where we made adjustments until everything was right, and the shared commitment Holly and I brought to getting every detail there.
